You can have three types of domains in cPanel – a primary domains, addon domains and parked domains. In this article we will explain what parked domains are, how they work, and how many you can add to your cheap web hosting plan. As a side note cPanel has changed how they call parked domains, so in more recent versions of the control panel, you’ll see the same concept being referred to as Domain Aliases.
The parked domain or the domain alias was created to allow the user to be able to add multiple domain names that load their same website. That’s the website uploaded under public_html.
The parked domain has a full functionality. You just can’t upload a separate web site to it. If you want to add a new domain name and upload a separate web site then you would need to add the new domain as an addon domain instead. You will be able to forward the parked domain to a specific URL from cPanel if you want. You can create email accounts, forwarders, and autoresponders for the parked domain.
